How to restart or shutdown your iPad (or iPhone)
When your iPhone or iPad isn’t working the way it should, chances are it may need a restart. Similarly to how your Mac works, your iPad sometimes needs to be turned off and back on again in order to clear application memory and restore full functionality. It’s a great way to begin troubleshooting with any issue, whether it be trouble connecting to Wi-Fi, unresponsive apps, or even issues mirroring with your Apple TV.
How to restart your iPad (or iPhone)
via Settings
- Open the Settings app
- Tap on General
- Scroll to the bottom tap Shut Down
- Drag the slider to turn your device off
via Buttons
- Press and hold the top (or side) power and volume up buttons
- Drag the slider to turn your device off
- After the device turns off, press and hold the top (or side) power button again until you see the Apple logo
